On Monday night, after watching all the TV ads for this month's - March 2012 - "Buy Any Blizzard and Get a 2nd for 99-cents!" promotion, my wife and I drove 5 miles to this Dairy Queen to take advantage of the offer. We ordered a couple medium Blizzards. The girl at the counter rang-up the bill: FULL PRICE! When we asked about the offer, she said "I don't know about it." We left and got back into the car. My wife pulled out her iPhone to make sure that we understood the offer. It was all there: the deal was on through the end of this month. That's this coming Saturday! So, she went back into the store and showed it to some guy. The guy pulled down a color-coded calendar from the wall, held it up to her face and said: "See, the promotion ended yesterday!" What a bunch of absolute garbage! We go out of our way for a special trip, and what do we get? Bad attitude, lousy customer service and . . . a local DQ that obviously doesn't understand how important it is to honor national promotions and the importance of good public relations. Note: I have provided feedback on this experience to DQ headquarters. Not a word back from them, almost 2 days later. So, here's my suggestion to you: just about anything a DQ offers can be found elsewhere. In the case of this particular Dairy Queen, there is a Sonic Drive-In on the opposite side of the parking lot. It's a 2-minute walk. Also, down the street, about a mile, is a Culver's. Both are excellent alternatives to this joint. Both know how to honor promotions and treat customers. Both have way-better menu options. Our experience? It cost us about $3 extra - beyond what we had expected to pay. Did that "break the bank?" No! But it's the principle here that's the point. Having that said: maybe that DQ operator will now understand how a bad $3 decision results in lost business and bad publicity. Not good at all for a local business.

I feel somewhat disappointed. We decided to go to the DQ in Lake Zurich *BECAUSE* of the poor reviews on Yelp and Google+ about the old man with poor customer service. After reading about the hand in the ice cream, the shoving the blizzard in somebody else's face, him getting mad at somebody with the gall to order ice cream, and the general bad service, we were really looking forward to some sort of geriatric meltdown. We were really disappointed. The service was prompt and friendly and we didn't get to live out our desire to be in a Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld via the cranky old man. The service was good and the girl behind the counter was nice.

ZERO STARS!!!! Will NEVER go back to this location! The old man is RUDE!!! He had an attitude with me because I asked what was in the Jurassic blizzard. Then he aggressively handed them through the window. I ended up ordering the strawberry cheesecake blizzard which was loaded with stems and leaves! Apparently they blended the berries whole! After the first leaf I said to myself, well... Accidents happen and kept eating. After the second leaf, then the stem I had to throw it away! I'm reporting to the DQ headquarters! I'm sure they'd like to know how this franchisee is ruining the brand. You all should do the same!

I haven't been here for years because the older man that runs it is rude and nasty to his customers. We were driving by DQ LZ tonight, so given the new location, I was hoping it was under new ownership. I guess not!!! We paid almost $25 for 5 small blizzards, 2 of which had no candy in them and one was missing the hot fudge we paid for. When I called to let the gentleman know, he first blamed it on DQ Corporate, "they are sending pulverized Reese's, they are nothing but tiny bits of chocolate." So I asked, why wouldn't you put more in them then? He said "I put two scoops in there, I don't know what you want me to do." and hung up. Don't do anything as I will continue to take my friends & family to Culver's 2 blocks away, where you get a cup full of toppings and more importantly, friendly service!

Wow, I don't know what's going on with this place, but I won't be back. I hadn't been here since they took over the old Sonic location, but I decided I needed a Blizzard fix. I pull up to the drive through and ordered my blizzard. The girl taking my order was kind of abrupt. Not rude exactly, just kind of short. I soon found out why. When I got up to the window it took a few minutes before anyone acknowledged me. While I was waiting I saw an older guy who looked like he could've been the owner having a heated discussion with the young female employees. A couple of the girls looked like they were about to cry. I couldn't hear anything so I don't know exactly what was going on, but it didn't seem good. When I was finally served my blizzard it was pretty melted, she didn't attempt to turn it upside down like they are supposed to, which is a good thing because it would've ended up on the ground. Despite having just driven past a large sign advertising "Served upside down or it's free" I didn't say anything because the poor girl looked like she was having a bad enough day. So I just paid & left with my soupy blizzard aka milkshake.

I had a similar experience as what Michael S. had... which is basically all about extremely poor customer service. Not sure what is up with the two people working here, but clearly they don't listen and have no concept of customer satisfaction. I'm actually surprised this place is still in business. It's not in a good location as you hardly know it's there. A bit on the dirty side and of course, very poor customer satisfaction.

I have never been treated this poorly in my life. In the drive thru, me and my sister order two small cotton candy blizzards. We were still ordering when we asked if they had minis, and they did. We asked for those instead. This older man came on the microphone and said no, you already ordered the small, we already made it you can't change it. I seriously thought it was a joke. We're still In the drive thru ordering you old fuck!!! It's not our fault you prematurely made our blizzards. We get to the pay window and this older man (later came out to find out his names Burt) stuck his head out the window to tell us they already made the small blizzard they can't change it. He was so rude about it. What kind of customer service is that!!???? It's not like we ordered and then changed our mind (but if that was the case, who cares? You still act kindly to the customer.) I will never go back to this diary queen, I'm honestly in shock. Idk if this is the owner, but anyone who goes here is a fool. What a piece of shit. Hopefully Burt finds his pain killers soon and calms the fuck down.
